Landscape Lighting - Try Solar Power For A
Beautiful Look
Landscape lighting can be
used to brighten up just about any yard or home. And there are
literally hundreds of ways to use lights to make your property
look more beautiful. For instance it's not unusual to see
lights arranged in a well landscaped garden to make it look
more artistic.
But with so many lighting choices available, how do you
choose the right landscape lighting for your property? Well for
many people solar lighting is an inexpensive yet beautiful
option. Driveways, steps and sidewalks can all be enhanced with
properly placed solar lights. There are several advantages to
using solar powered lighting. These lights will last for a long
time, yet they are reasonably priced and will even provide more
light than most other types of outdoor lighting.
Of course solar landscape lighting eliminates the need for
electricity. The fact that there are no cords gives you more
freedom to place the lights wherever you feel they will look
best. And naturally there are no unsightly wires that you can
trip over, and you won't have to worry about burying the cords
if you were inclined to do so. In other words, you won't have
to dig up the lawn just to hide the wiring.
Combine the ease of use with the money you'll save and you
can see why solar landscape lighting is gaining in popularity.
Add to that the many styles available and you really can't go
wrong. Solar lights can be mounted on posts or fences, they can
be lantern, and there are even solar powered lights made just
for decorating and lighting your patio.
Another choice you'll have to make is what the lights will
be made from. Stainless steel, copper and plastic are all used
in constructing and manufacturing solar landscape lighting. We
recommend some form of metal since they will typically last
longer.
Solar lights are charged by sun during the day. Each fixture
has a battery which is charged by using a photovoltaic cell.
They charge during the day, and all you do is turn them on at
night to get the light you want. It's not usually a problem,
but you do need to be sure to place the lights where they will
get sun during the day so they can charge. There are not too
many locations that provide no sunlight but you'll need to be
sure you avoid them if they exist on your property. That way
they'll have the power they need when you turn them on in the
evening.
Some areas to watch out for include up against fences, under
trees or under bushes. But even these can be worked around as
long as the light is not shaded during all daylight hours.
Once you have them placed, your solar landscape lighting
will provide you with years of beautiful light on your
property.
